Sixth Form

By the time your child reaches KS5, they should have a clear idea of the career or industry they would like to work in, and they should be focusing their time on finding out more about this industry. We aim to encourage and nurture your child’s career aspirations through our robust and bespoke work-related learning curriculum.

During the two-years that your child attends sixth form with us, as well as receiving expert teaching, they will also participate in various activities to help them move one step closer to achieving their career goals. Your child will have an opportunity to revisit Morrisby, if they are an existing student, so they have up to date career recommendations based on their current skills, talents, and interests. If your child is new to the Academy, they will complete Morrisby, a leading online careers profiling and guidance questionnaire, which uses a psychometric and scientific assessment to provide your child with a personalised careers recommendation report.

Your child will also be exposed to a range of other career opportunities within the work-related learning and careers, super curricular and extra-curricular programs. Throughout their time with us, they will gain as much exposure as possible to different industries, industry professionals, universities and apprenticeships offered as part of Mayor of London’s Access Aspirations programme, The Sutton Trust, Speakers for Schools, Amazing apprenticeships, and the realising opportunities programme. Sixth form students will also participate in skills development workshops focused on developing their employability and soft skills. They will participate in resilience, growth mindset and mental wellbeing sessions in preparation for their final exams, as well as leadership and developing communication skills sessions. These sessions will take place as part of our PHSRE programme during tutor time.

Students will also participate in CV writing skills days, apprenticeship insight workshops and receive job/apprenticeship application and interview support. They will regularly be provided with information from higher education and apprenticeship providers, so they can make the most informed decisions about their post-18 options.
