Royal Society Young People's Book Prize
Students from the Academy have helped to choose the winner of the 2011 Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize for outstanding Science writing.
The prize is chosen from a shortlist by students from 85 schools across the country, including Walthamstow Academy. Each school or academy consider each of the shortlisted books and then vote for their winner. The votes are counted by the Royal Society and the author of the winning book receives a prize of £10,000.
Taking part in this national event has broadened our students’ awareness of the fun and interesting Science books that are available to them. It has also given them an insight into the process of judging books which they displayed when critiquing each of the shortlisted books.
