Results 2023

The class of 2023 at Walthamstow Academy Sixth Form continue to build on our sixth form’s strong track record of success!

A-level students at Walthamstow Academy performed very well this summer, with excellent progression onto University courses and degree apprenticeships.

David Pupla achieved A*, A*, A* in Computing, Maths and Physics and he is going to study Computer Science at Manchester University.

Deyna Mesuria achieved A*A*A in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and is going to study Physiological Science at Bristol University

Jenai Allen achieved A, A, A in chemistry, maths and physics and is going to study Aerospace Engineering at Southampton.

Redly Mireku-Boateng achieved A*, A, A, A in Business, Economics, Geography and Government & Politics and is going to Kings to study law

Ylli Haliti achieved A*, A*, A in Chemistry, Maths and Physics. He is going to Imperial College to study Chemistry with Molecular Physics

Rio Aroun-Maxwell

Rio has secured a degree apprenticeship at Arup in Software Development. Rio said:
"My time at Walthamstow Academy has been a roller coaster of happiness, difficulty, and success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support network of my teachers and peers. If I could choose a school or college for anyone, it would be WA without a doubt"

Curtis Watson

Curtis has gone to the University of St. Andrews to study Computer Science. Curtis said:
"I want to say a massive thank you to my teachers who consistently went above and beyond to support me both educationally and pastorally. I always knew that whatever I was going through that there would be someone there for me. Thank you!"

Aisha Mukadam

Aisha is now studying Medicine at UCL. Aisha said:
"I am really happy with my results. I have always dreamed of going into medicine, and now for it to finally be confirmed is amazing. I definitely would not have been able to achieve this without the help and support from the wonderful WA staff. I have been here since year 7 and have really benefitted from all they have to offer. I feel like the teachers went out of their way to make everyone comfortable and confident in their subjects, as well as in general school life. Especially all the extra help needed during the very trying Covid times. I was surprised at how well we adapted to the new way of learning, but I am happy that we got though it together!"

Ivy Walker

Ivy went to study International Relations at Kings College, London. Ivy said:
"It’s been an amazing experience being at Walthamstow Academy from Year 7 to Year 13. The past two years have been difficult, but I’ve been able to get though it thanks to the amazing support from the school. I would not have gotten the results I did without the unconditional support from the school. I am really proud of everyone in this journey alongside me as everyone has worked incredibly hard. I’m excited to move on to university and am looking forward to seeing the amazing things Walthamstow Academy will achieve."

Rahma Zaid

Rahma went to King’s to study International Relations. Rahma said:
"I can’t believe my 7 year journey at this amazing school has come to an end. I have loved every minute and will look back with no regrets. I always get told, “you love this place too much and will probably end up coming back to work here”; perhaps that’s because this school is like home to me now. This place has been the key to my success, my future and who I am now, and for that I will never forget the amazing teachers and people who have supported me on this journey. I have learnt that hard work and resilience will get you anything especially the grades you want. If you put your mind to something, you can achieve anything you want no matter what. I am proud to say that I attended Walthamstow academy and can’t wait to see what the future holds! This school really does want to see the “best in everyone”. Even though I will miss this place I can’t wait to go off to university and start a new chapter!"

Honor has gone to study History and German at Nottingham University. Honor said:
"After what has been the hardest two years of my life I am beyond happy and overwhelmed with my results! I honestly cannot thank my teachers enough for the support I’ve received over the last seven years at Walthamstow Academy! I hope that whoever is reading this can believe in themselves and strive for their best as Walthamstow Academy really does bring out the ‘best in everyone"

Ana is at the University of Nottingham studying Politics and International Relations. Ana said:
"I feel very pleased with my A-Level results, and I am very thankful to my teachers as they have helped and supported me all throughout my course. The teachers at this Academy care for every student and genuinely want the best for them which is apparent in every conversation. Walthamstow Academy has been a great place to study, learn and develop as a person"

On leaving Walthamstow Academy at the end of Year 13, Raiyan Rizwan said:

On leaving Walthamstow Academy at the end of Year 13, Amjad Butt, Head Student said:

"The past 7 years at Walthamstow Academy have been a rewarding investment in my journey toward a successful future. I would never have attained these grades and a place at university if it weren't for the amazing teachers who have taught me over the years. Although my final 2 years in Sixth Form were brought to an unprecedented end, they have been vital for my outcome. I feel that I have left a legacy to be proud of at Walthamstow Academy, and could not have asked for anything more during my time here. It is without a doubt that I say, the harder you work, the easier it is to achieve your goals. Never forget: stay hungry to succeed, but always stay humble when you do."

Folakemi - Deputy Head Student 2020

Folakemi Omoyinmi, Deputy Head Student said:

"Wow. I've been at Walthamstow Academy for 7 years. At the end of these 7 years I am pleased to say I have obtained a place to study Psychology at my dream university. This wouldn't have been anywhere near as possible without the endless support from my teachers and the staff here at Walthamstow Academy. I wasn't always the best student especially from year 7-9, however my teachers never ever gave up on me. For that, I will always, always, remain grateful. My advice to younger years is to always make sure you work hard with your end goal in mind. By working with your end goal in mind, this will keep you motivated even during the most difficult times. Being motivated is key to educational success because if you don't want it for yourself, then nobody else can make you want it. Make sure to use your teachers because they are there to help and support you. Lastly, when revising or doing homework always make sure you plan around your revision rather than fitting it in to a busy day. By planning other activities around your revision, this makes revision a priority rather than something that is done only if you have time. Always remember Hard work and dedication pays off. I wish you all the best in your studies. "

Abdul and Adam

The school’s former Head Boy, Adam Brown was awarded A*, A*, A and went on to read Law at the University of Cambridge.

Abdul Samad achieved AAB and went on to study Accounting at the LSE.

Yousra and Zaryab

Yousra Haji, who was a member of the Academy’s Junior Leadership Team, achieved ABC and went on to study Aerospace Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London.

Zaryab Khan achieved AAB and also went on to study Aerospace Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London.

Nimra Pervaiz achieved Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction and went on to study Nursing at Kings College, University of London.

Daisy Shelton, who was part of the Academy’s Junior Leadership team, achieved A*, A, B and went to the University of Cambridge to study Architecture.

“I am still in shock, that I am going to my dream university, Kings College in London to study medicine. I have wanted this for as long as I can remember and I can’t believe it’s finally happening. Tommy Quinga Pujota achieved triple Distinction* and a C in Spanish, and went to Queen Mary to study Spanish and Business

“First of all I want to say thank you to all my teachers and my parents for being there for me in crucial times, and I’m very grateful to Walthamstow Academy as I wouldn’t be where I am today if not for them. Now I’m heading for a new chapter in my life, hoping for more challenges and adventures. Josh Iton, Head Boy, achieved double Distinction* in BTEC Sport and a C in Psychology, and has gone to Middlesex to study Sports and Exercise Science

“My 7 year experience at Walthamstow Academy has truly been a very special chapter in my life. Danny Baalbaki achieved an A* and two As and became the academy’s first student to go the University of Cambridge where he read Middle Eastern Studies.

”It’s rejuvenating. I feel as if I can finally breathe. I appreciate my peers and teachers who have stood by me and kept me on track whenever I lost sight”.

The Academy’s Head Girl, Molly Cartlidge achieved an A* and two As and read Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds.

“I can’t believe my seven years here are finished. I am so grateful to the teachers and my peers who helped me and made my time here so enjoyable”.

The Academy’s Head Prefect, Ugne Gudelyte, studied Biochemistry at the University of Bristol having achieved two As and a B.

“I am very happy about my grades and even more so that I got into Bristol. I owe a massive thanks to my teachers and my parents for the phenomenal support and assistance. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to take five minutes out of your day to relax and just breathe. When it all gets too much, that is what helped me get through. You can do it!”

Malachi Amponsah, the Academy’s Head Boy, achieved 3 Bs and read Law at the University of Exeter.

“My advice would be to never take your foot off the pedal because when you open your results you will feel endless pride and joy in knowing you did all that you can”.

Curtis Murray received 3 As and went to the University of Bristol to read Economics and Politics.

“It feels so great finally receiving the grades I needed after seven years. I wouldn’t have been able to cope with the stress and study if it weren’t for my amazing teachers at Walthamstow Academy. To anyone who is nervous about their exams, don’t worry, you’re in safe hands.”
